Commander's Endorsement: October 16, 2004 Critical Incident Support
November 8, 2004 My Fellow Rangers, It is with great pleasure that I endorse the attached letter from LTC Sid Chandler, State Adjutant, Arizona Rangers. I remain consistently proud of this organization and its individual members. Day-in and day-out, I see intense sacrifices made by all that are for the greater good of the community, and for the good of the order. Community service takes on many forms. All of them are valuable, on their face. Uniformed, armed service, uniquely provided to this community by our Arizona Rangers, presents its own unique set of challenges. Each member of this organization should take great pride in their accomplishments. Sometimes, however, I am stunned by what you do. October 16, 2004 is one of those dates that will always stand out in my mind. Because of the day, the time of day, and other ongoing duties, when the Sierra Vista Police Department called me, requesting our support, I was nearly without resources. Fortunately, ARTA South was in session. The talented instructors and its Probationary Rangers responded with conspicuous honor, rendering traffic control and other services to our local law enforcement agencies. That several of our Rangers held specific professional credentials provided a layer of service never before available through our Company, including grief counseling and stress debriefings. Law enforcement officials have been profuse in their expressions of gratitude. Through the efforts of all, a tragic and horrendous traffic accident, though taking a great toll on our community and on our Rangers, was put behind us, minimizing the overall damage to our friends, neighbors and family members. Community service? Yes. Community service with a difference? Definitely. Yours professionally, (Signed on original)
