About R. C. Turner
(1967-2002)

Many photos on this site were created by R. C. Turner, a photo-journalist. We appreciate his devotion to the Arizona Rangers.

R. C. Turner was born in Denver, Colorado.  Most of his family has served with distinction in the military or with law enforcement, including Denver Police Patrolman Pat Pollock who was killed in the line of duty in 1985.  R. C. Turner served in the United States Army for a total of 13 years as a special investigator.  His duties included conducting investigations, writing investigative reports and taking investigative photographs.  After being stationed as an Army instructor in Arizona, he became a full time resident of Sierra Vista, AZ.  He was a member of the Reid Institute and the Sierra Vista Camera Club.

Bob Turner died in January, 2002, while in the early stages of his pet project: a book depicting the modern Arizona Rangers. Acutely aware that the Territorial Arizona Rangers are well-documented, he saw a great void of knowledge regarding the missions, strengths and weaknesses of the present day Arizona Rangers.

Concentrating his attention primarily on one company, in Sierra Vista, where he lived, he envisioned a book that would tell the story of all present day Arizona Rangers. He sought, and achieved, in depth knowledge of the p-e-o-p-l-e that comprise the modern organization. He was well on his way to documenting, through his penetrating photographs and insightful writings, the organization that he so loved.

Tragically, at the age of 34, Bob is gone - his dream unfulfilled. We admired his skill and determination. We shall miss him.
