Bob Turner died in January, 2002, while in the
early stages of his pet project: a book depicting the modern Arizona Rangers.
Acutely aware that the Territorial Arizona Rangers are well-documented, he saw a
great void of knowledge regarding the missions, strengths and weaknesses of the
present day Arizona Rangers.
Concentrating his attention primarily on one
company, in Sierra Vista, where he lived, he envisioned a book that would tell
the story of all present day Arizona Rangers. He sought, and achieved, in
depth knowledge of the p-e-o-p-l-e that comprise the modern organization. He was
well on his way to documenting, through his penetrating photographs and
insightful writings, the organization that he so loved.
Tragically, at the age of 34, Bob is gone - his dream unfulfilled. We admired
his skill and determination. We shall miss him.
