Sheriff Joe Arpaio Visits Sierra Vista

On October 14, 2005, Sheriff Joe Arpaio, "The Toughest Sheriff in America," spoke in Sierra Vista. Arpaio invited Captain Dennis to visit him, "during his next visit to Phoenix." On October 20, 2005, Dennis took him up on his offer. Surprisingly, Sheriff Arpaio was in his office, and met with Dennis for a half-hour, despite no formal appointment. The conversation ranged from "sheriffing," to "rangering," to "posseeing," to future integration of Arizona Rangers into Homeland Security and United States/Mexico Border issues. Sheriff Arpaio invited Dennis to bring a group of Arizona Rangers to Phoenix for a full tour of his facilities, including "Tent City."
